Jam vs Hootsuite in one paragraph
Both platforms schedule and publish social media, but they charge — and think — very differently. Hootsuite is a monitoring-led social suite (listening across 30+ networks, unified inbox, AI chatbots) priced per user: US$99–399 per person, per month, so costs scale with your headcount. Jam covers the content workflow itself — collect content through branded forms with usage rights included, organise it in an AI-tagged library, publish to 7 platforms — at a flat published price from US$99 per month, with no per-seat charges. Your whole team works in Jam for the same price as one person.

How much does Hootsuite cost?
Hootsuite's pricing page states that paid plans "start at $99 for a Standard plan, $199 for a Professional plan, and range up to $399 for an Advanced plan" — per user, per month on annual billing (seen July 2026). There is no free plan: Hootsuite retired it in 2023, so the US$99 seat is the floor. That per-user model is the number that matters: the plan price multiplies by every teammate who needs access.
| Hootsuite plan | Per user / month | 5-person team / year* |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | US$99 (10 social accounts) | US$5,940 |
| Professional | US$199 | US$11,940 |
| Advanced | US$399 | US$23,940 |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | |
| Jam, for comparison | US$99/month Standard or US$299/month Growth, flat — a 5-person team pays the same as a 1-person team. See full pricing | |
*Computed from Hootsuite's published per-user annual-billing rates (seat price × 5 × 12).
We don't charge per seat. We don't need to — Jam plans are based on what you actually use (storage, posts, social accounts), so bringing your whole team in costs nothing extra. On value for money, Hootsuite's own reviewers rate it 4.1/5 across 3,800 reviews on GetApp (seen July 2026) — the lowest of its sub-scores, against a 4.4/5 overall rating. The product is capable. The per-user maths is the complaint.
A template locker is not an asset library
Hootsuite does have a Content Library — but its help documentation describes an admin-managed store of pre-approved post templates and images that teams reuse when publishing. It keeps posts on-brand; it doesn't manage your assets. For that, Hootsuite's app directory offers connectors to dedicated enterprise DAMs like Adobe Experience Manager — a second tool, a second contract, and usually a second per-user fee.
Jam collapses that stack: the library your team publishes from is the DAM. Every photo and video is AI-tagged on upload, searchable by describing what's in it, deduplicated, versioned — and if it arrived through a Jam Form, its usage rights are already on record. One tool, one flat price.

Verdict: which should you choose?
Choose Hootsuite if…
Your core need is monitoring the conversation — social listening across 30+ networks, 200+ review sites and 187 languages, AI chatbots answering DMs — and per-user pricing fits your budget. Hootsuite is genuinely strong at that layer, and its publishing reaches more networks than Jam does, including Threads, WhatsApp and Bluesky.
Choose Jam if…
Your team's job is the content itself: collect it (with usage rights granted at submission), find it instantly in an AI-organised library, and publish it — with everyone on the team working in the platform at one flat price. Enterprise teams like Crown Resorts run their social publishing on Jam with a dedicated account manager, direct input into the roadmap, and no per-seat maths.

Jam vs Hootsuite, answered
How much does Hootsuite cost?
Hootsuite prices every plan per user: its pricing page states paid plans start at US$99 for Standard, US$199 for Professional and up to US$399 for Advanced — per user, per month on annual billing — with a custom-quoted Enterprise tier (Hootsuite pricing page, July 2026). Because each teammate needs a seat, a 5-person team on Professional pays about US$11,940 per year. Jam is flat-priced — US$99/month Standard, US$299/month Growth — with no per-seat charges.
Does Hootsuite charge per user?
Yes. Every Hootsuite plan is priced per user per month, so each teammate who needs access adds the full seat price. Standard also caps you at 10 social accounts; unlimited accounts start at Professional (US$199 per user/month). Jam does not charge per seat on any plan: plans are based on storage, posts and social accounts, and your whole team can work in the platform at one flat price.
Does Hootsuite have a free plan?
No. Hootsuite retired its free plan in 2023 and now offers a 14-day free trial, after which the cheapest way in is the US$99 per user/month Standard plan. Jam also offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and its US$99/month Standard plan is flat — the price does not multiply by team size.
Does Hootsuite have a digital asset library?
Hootsuite has a Content Library, but it stores pre-approved post templates and images for teams to reuse — an admin-managed staging area for publishing, not a digital asset management system. For actual asset management, Hootsuite's app directory offers connectors to dedicated DAMs like Adobe Experience Manager. Jam includes the DAM itself: every asset is AI-tagged on upload, searchable by description, versioned and stored with its usage rights.
Does Hootsuite collect user-generated content?
Not natively. Hootsuite monitors social conversations at serious depth, but it has no submission forms and no usage-rights capture — collecting content from customers or event attendees happens in other tools. In Jam, UGC collection is built in: contributors upload through branded Jam Forms (QR code or link) and grant usage rights at the moment they submit.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Hootsuite?
Yes. Jam starts at a published US$99/month flat — not per user — and includes social publishing to 7 platforms plus an AI-organised asset library and UGC collection that Hootsuite does not have. Cheaper per-seat schedulers like Buffer or SocialPilot also exist, but they replace only the posting slice of the workflow.
Methodology: compared July 21, 2026 from Hootsuite's public pricing and plans pages (per-user annual-billing rates stated in its pricing FAQ), Hootsuite's platform and help pages and GetApp review aggregates. Team-cost figures are computed from those published rates. Jam details reflect current published plans. Found something out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.
