Jam vs Loox
Loox puts gorgeous photo reviews on your Shopify product pages. Jam turns customer photos and videos into a rights-cleared library and publishes them across your socials. Here's the honest comparison — with sources.

Jam vs Loox in one paragraph
Loox is a Shopify-only photo-review app, and by its ratings one of the best-loved apps in the ecosystem — 4.9/5 across 8,700+ Shopify App Store reviews (July 2026). It collects photo and video reviews after purchase and displays them in widgets that convert. But the photos live inside those widgets: there's no asset library, no social publishing, and Loox's own merchant terms restrict distributing the content beyond your own website without a written agreement. Jam covers the other side of the job: customers upload through branded forms and grant usage rights to you at the moment of submission, everything lands in an AI-searchable library, and you publish natively to 7 social platforms — at a flat published price from US$99 per month that doesn't rise with your order count.

How much does Loox cost?
Credit where due: Loox publishes its prices, on its Shopify App Store listing (seen July 2026). The number to understand is the meter: the Convert plan's US$49.99 covers your first 300 orders each month, and every additional 300 orders adds US$50. Your Loox bill is a function of how much you sell.
| Loox plan | Price / month | At 3,000 orders/month* |
|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 | Not built for that volume |
| Convert | US$49.99 for the first 300 orders, +US$50 per extra 300 | ≈ US$500/month — ~US$6,000/year |
| Unlimited | US$299.99 | US$299.99 (the meter's escape hatch) |
| Jam, for comparison | US$99/month Standard or US$299/month Growth, flat — sell 300 orders or 30,000, the price is the price. See full pricing | |
*Computed from the published Convert meter (US$49.99 + 9 × US$50 for the additional 2,700 orders). Third-party pricing guides report the Convert meter runs to roughly US$999.99/month before capping. Plans and meters per the Shopify App Store listing, July 2026.
To be clear, Loox's model is honest and its entry price is genuinely cheap — for a small store wanting photo reviews, it may be all you need. The difference is what the meter measures: Loox charges you for growing. Jam plans are based on what you actually use (storage, posts, social accounts) — and we don't charge per seat either. We don't need to.
Whose photos are they, really?
Here's the question nobody asks until it matters: when a customer submits a photo review, who can reuse that photo — and where? Loox's Merchant Terms of Service (dated May 2018, seen July 2026) answer it directly: “Loox retains all right, title and ownership in the User Content”, and “unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by you and Loox, you may not use any third party platforms, other than your own website, to link to or distribute the User Content.” In plain terms: the photos power your widgets, but reusing them on social or in ads is a conversation with Loox, not a right you hold.
That's not a hidden gotcha — it's just what a review app is. The content exists to serve reviews on your store, and Loox Studio's social graphics are designed to be downloaded and posted by hand. But it means the classic three-tool workflow — collect in a review app, stash the good photos and clips in Dropbox, repost through a scheduler — is built on content with no reuse-rights record attached.
Jam is built the other way around. Contributors upload through your branded form and grant usage rights to you, at the moment of submission. The rights record stays attached to the asset in your library, and publishing to Instagram, TikTok or anywhere else is a native, scheduled step — not an export. One tool, one flat price, and the permission question answered before it's asked.

Verdict: which should you choose?
Choose Loox if…
You run a Shopify store and the job is photo reviews converting on product pages. Loox's widgets are beautiful, setup is instant, entry is cheap or free, and a 4.9 rating across 8,700+ reviews is not an accident. For pure on-store social proof, it's a genuinely excellent pick.
Choose Jam if…
You want customer photos and videos working beyond the widget: collected through branded forms with usage rights granted to you at submission, organised in a library your whole team can search, and published natively across 7 social platforms — at a flat price that doesn't meter your growth. And if reviews still matter (they do), Jam runs happily alongside a review app: Jam handles the content, the review app handles the stars.

Jam vs Loox, answered
How much does Loox cost?
Loox publishes its plans on the Shopify App Store (seen July 2026): a Free plan, Convert at US$49.99/month, and Unlimited at US$299.99/month. The catch is the meter on Convert: US$49.99 covers your first 300 orders each month, then every additional 300 orders adds US$50. A store doing 3,000 orders a month pays around US$500 — third-party guides report the meter runs to roughly US$999.99/month before Unlimited makes sense. Jam is flat: US$99/month Standard or US$299/month Growth, published, with no order-volume meter.
Does Loox work outside Shopify?
No. Loox is a Shopify-only app — it installs from the Shopify App Store and bills through Shopify (seen July 2026). If you sell on WooCommerce, BigCommerce or your own stack, or you want your content workflow independent of your store platform, Loox is not an option. Jam is platform-agnostic: it connects to Shopify when you want it to, but your library and publishing live outside any one store.
Can I use Loox review photos on social media?
Read the terms before you do. Loox's Merchant Terms of Service (dated May 2018, seen July 2026) state that Loox retains ownership of user content and that, unless otherwise agreed in writing with Loox, merchants may not use third-party platforms other than their own website to distribute it. Loox Studio can generate social-ready graphics from reviews for you to download, but no per-photo rights record travels with the content. In Jam, contributors grant usage rights to you at the moment of submission, and that record stays attached to the asset wherever you use it.
Does Loox have a digital asset library?
No. Customer photos and videos in Loox live inside reviews and on-site display widgets — there is no searchable media library, tagging or asset management layer behind them (Loox features pages, seen July 2026). That's why teams end up downloading the best content into Dropbox or Drive folders to reuse it. In Jam, every collected photo lands in an AI-tagged, searchable library with its rights on record.
What's the difference between Loox and Jam?
Loox is a photo-review app for Shopify: it collects reviews after purchase, displays them in widgets that convert, and syndicates star ratings to shopping surfaces — and it is excellent at that, rated 4.9/5 across 8,700+ Shopify App Store reviews (July 2026). Jam is a content platform: branded upload forms collect photos and videos with usage rights granted at submission, an AI-searchable library stores them, and native scheduling publishes them to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube and Pinterest. If the job is reviews on product pages, pick Loox. If the job is customer content across your marketing, pick Jam — or run both.
Methodology: compared July 24, 2026 from Loox's Shopify App Store listing (plans, meter, rating), loox.app feature and pricing pages, and the Loox Merchant Terms of Service (May 2018 PDF at loox.io, quoted verbatim). Volume cost figures are computed from the published meter. Jam details reflect current published plans. Found something out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.
