Jam vs Sprout Social in one paragraph
Both platforms schedule and publish social media, but they charge — and think — very differently. Sprout Social is an enterprise social suite (listening, advocacy, review management) priced per seat: US$199–399 per person, per month on its main plans, so costs scale with your headcount. Jam covers the content workflow itself — collect content through branded forms with usage rights included, organise it in an AI-tagged library, publish to 7 platforms — at a flat published price from US$99 per month, with no per-seat charges. Your whole team works in Jam for the same price as one person.

How much does Sprout Social cost?
Sprout Social publishes its prices, and every plan is labelled per seat/month on its pricing page (seen July 2026, annual-billing rates). That per-seat model is the number that matters: the plan price multiplies by every teammate who needs access.
| Sprout plan | Per seat / month | 5-person team / year* |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | US$79 (US$99 billed monthly) | US$4,740 |
| Standard | US$199 | US$11,940 |
| Professional | US$299 | US$17,940 |
| Advanced | US$399 | US$23,940 |
| Jam, for comparison | US$99/month Standard or US$299/month Growth, flat — a 5-person team pays the same as a 1-person team. See full pricing | |
*Computed from Sprout's published per-seat annual-billing rates (seat price × 5 × 12). Social listening and employee advocacy are paid add-ons on top of seat prices, per Sprout's features page.
We don't charge per seat. We don't need to — Jam plans are based on what you actually use (storage, posts, social accounts), so bringing your whole team in costs nothing extra. On value for money, Sprout's own reviewers rate it 3.9/5 across 607 reviews on GetApp (seen July 2026) — against a 4.4/5 overall rating. The product is good. The pricing model is the complaint.
A staging area is not an asset library
Sprout's Asset Library holds content you're about to publish. Sprout's own features page describes it as a place to create assets or import them from Canva, Bynder, Adobe Experience Manager, Dropbox or Google Drive — in other words, when teams need real asset management, Sprout expects a separate DAM behind it. Sprout's own support documentation is explicit about the ceiling: the Asset Library only stores assets — images (JPEG/PNG/GIF) up to 20MB and video (MOV/MP4) up to 3GB — and does nothing with them beyond storage (seen July 2026). It is a store, not a DAM. That's a second tool, a second contract, and on the enterprise DAMs Sprout integrates with, usually a second per-user fee.
Jam collapses that stack: the library your team publishes from is the DAM. Every photo and video is AI-tagged on upload, searchable by describing what's in it, deduplicated, versioned — and if it arrived through a Jam Form, its usage rights are already on record. One tool, one flat price.

Verdict: which should you choose?
Choose Sprout Social if…
Your core need is enterprise social intelligence — deep listening, review management across platforms, employee advocacy programs — and per-seat pricing (plus add-ons) fits your budget. Sprout is genuinely strong at that layer, and its publishing reaches more networks than Jam does.
Choose Jam if…
Your team's job is the content itself: collect it (with usage rights granted at submission), find it instantly in an AI-organised library, and publish it — with everyone on the team working in the platform at one flat price. Enterprise teams like Crown Resorts run their social publishing on Jam with a dedicated account manager, direct input into the roadmap, and no per-seat maths.

Jam vs Sprout Social, answered
How much does Sprout Social cost?
Sprout Social prices every plan per seat: Standard is US$199, Professional US$299 and Advanced US$399 per seat per month on annual billing, with a custom-quoted Enterprise tier (Sprout pricing page, July 2026). The entry Essentials plan is US$79 per seat/month annually or US$99 monthly. Because every user needs a seat, a 5-person team on Professional pays about US$17,940 per year. Jam is flat-priced — US$99/month Standard, US$299/month Growth — with no per-seat charges.
Does Sprout Social charge per user?
Yes. Every Sprout Social plan is priced "per seat/month", so each teammate who needs access adds the full seat price — five people on the US$299 Professional plan means five seats. Jam does not charge per seat on any plan: plans are based on storage, posts and social accounts, and your whole team can work in the platform at one flat price.
Does Sprout Social have a digital asset library?
Sprout's Asset Library is a staging area for publishing: its own features page describes creating assets or importing them from Canva, Bynder, Adobe Experience Manager, Dropbox or Google Drive, then editing and publishing from one place. For actual asset management — AI tagging, semantic search, versioning, rights records — Sprout integrates with dedicated DAMs like Bynder rather than being one. Jam includes the DAM itself: every asset is auto-tagged, searchable by description and stored with its usage rights.
Does Sprout Social collect user-generated content?
Not natively. Sprout monitors and republishes social conversations and offers influencer marketing, but it has no submission forms and no usage-rights capture — content collection happens in other tools. In Jam, UGC collection is built in: contributors upload through branded Jam Forms (QR code or link) and grant usage rights at the moment they submit.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Sprout Social?
Yes. Jam starts at a published US$99/month flat — not per seat — and includes social publishing to 7 platforms plus an AI-organised asset library and UGC collection that Sprout does not have. Cheaper per-seat schedulers like Buffer or SocialPilot also exist, but they replace only the posting slice of the workflow.
Methodology: compared July 21, 2026 from Sprout Social's public pricing page (per-seat annual-billing rates), Sprout's features pages and GetApp review aggregates. Team-cost figures are computed from those published rates. Jam details reflect current published plans. Found something out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.
