Post it how you shot it

Most schedulers wreck your video before anyone sees it. Jam processes it once, properly.

Last updated October 20, 2026

Why do videos look worse after posting through a scheduler?

  • Double compression: the scheduler squeezes it, then the platform does it again.
  • Wrong size or format: the platform quietly re-encodes it.
  • iPhone HDR ignored: it comes out grey.

Jam processes video once, from your original file, to each platform's spec, and handles HDR per platform.

Typical scheduler

  1. Compressedto save the scheduler bandwidth
  2. Re-compressedby the platform, on top
  3. Re-encoded againwrong size or format
  4. HDR washes greycolour data ignored

Crushed two or three times before anyone sees it.

Jam

  1. One high-quality encodefrom your original, to the platform’s spec (YouTube and TikTok get the original)
  2. HDR handled per platformkept for Meta and LinkedIn, tone-mapped for X
  3. Photos sent originalwhen the platform accepts the file as it is

The platform starts from your quality, not a crushed copy.

Typical scheduler vs Jam, from upload to post.

What Jam sends to each platform

PlatformVideoPhotos
YouTubeOriginal file—
TikTokOriginal fileOriginal JPEG if it fits, else one JPEG
InstagramOne encode, HDR keptOriginal file for feed posts (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP)
FacebookOne encode, HDR keptOriginal JPEG if it fits, else one JPEG
LinkedInOne encode, HDR keptOriginal JPEG if it fits, else one JPEG
XOne encode, HDR tone-mappedOriginal JPEG if it fits, else one JPEG
PinterestOne encodeOriginal JPEG if it fits, else one JPEG
  • “One encode”: H.264, CRF 18, 192 kbps AAC, from your original, never upscaled.
  • “Fits” means within the platform's size and shape limits. “One JPEG” is quality 95 with the colour profile kept.
  • Videos edited inside Jam are published from the edited version. Every platform still runs its own processing after upload.

Media company first: we built the pipeline before the calendar

Jam started with the media (upload, process, convert, deliver) and added scheduling after. Your originals live in an AI-tagged library and publish straight to the social calendar, with no export or re-upload. More on Jam as a DAM with social scheduling built in.

Video quality on social media, answered

Why does my video look worse when I post it through a scheduler?

It was usually compressed twice. Many schedulers squeeze video hard before posting, then the platform compresses it again. A file in the wrong size or format gets re-encoded a third time.

Why do my iPhone videos look grey or washed out on social media?

iPhones shoot HDR by default. If a tool converts HDR without handling it, or the platform ignores the HDR colour information, the video comes out flat and grey.

Does Jam compress my videos?

Once, and only where needed. YouTube and TikTok get your original file. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Pinterest get one high-quality H.264 encode (CRF 18, 192 kbps AAC) from your original, sized to the platform and never upscaled. Videos edited inside Jam are published from the edited version.

Does Jam handle HDR video?

Yes, per platform. Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn keep the HDR colour information. X would wash it out, so Jam tone-maps it to standard (BT.709) colour. YouTube and TikTok get your original HDR file.

Does Jam send my photos at full quality?

Instagram feed posts get your original file when Instagram accepts it (JPEG, PNG, HEIC or WebP within its limits). Other platforms get the original if it is already a JPEG within their size and shape limits. Anything else becomes one quality-95 JPEG with its colour profile kept.
